Tanning Pills

Tanning pills, in theory, are a great idea. Imagine the convenience of simply swallowing a pill to help you get a deeper, darker tan. In theory, this pill would send a signal to your pituitary gland to increase the production of MSH (Melanocyte Stimulation Hormone), which in turn, increases the melanocytes in your skin to produce more pigment.

Unfortunately, many studies have shown these tanning pills are ineffective. Since dietary supplements do not have to be approved by the FDA, there is no government regulation proving that a product being sold actually works.

With that said, many people still believe strongly in the effectiveness of the tanning pill. If you're considering taking this supplement, check with your doctor first. Never take any medication or dietary supplement without checking with a medical professional first.
